I see that Antelope Valley Med. Ctr . has regained designation as a Level III Trauma Center . Before , it was a Level II facility competing with Henry Mayo Newhall Mem . Hosp . Med Ctr. in Valencia , the trauma center for the Santa Clarita Valley area of LA County . In my state (Idaho) , there are only two trauma centers . St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise and Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls . Helos are very important in EMS and make a difference .

@bugguy905 I agree with that . I live about 128 miles outside of Boise in Twin Falls . St. Alphonsus Life Flight uses two EC135s that are just a few years old and the Bell 430 I have to say is the second safest even though it's a loud bird . The 430 needs constant tune ups to stay on it's game .

Yep, main rotors rotate counter clockwise and the tail rotors rotate clockwise....

Thank you. I have been trying to find a video that confirms a helicopter's main rotor blades rotate counter-clockwise and the tail rotor rotates clockwise, or the top side of the tail rotor rotates away from the front. I had a hunch but I wasn't sure.

It takes us two minutes to fully start up and lift up, I'm the pilot..... Idle for one minutes, then to full power for another minute then we lift off

Actually, there are friction grips for both the collective and cyclic - the former to hold it down and the latter to keep it centered, both on the ground.

Only in the movies are they up in no time. A turbine helicopter has to spool up and a reciprocating model has to warm up, lest it fall for lack of power. It can take even longer, when you test the clutch (or magnetos, but that takes 10 seconds). And that's not counting the pre- and post-flight walk-arounds.
All in all, though, helicopter pilots do still get it up quicker. ;)

daggone that thing has a long start up time ! Most are up in the air considerably quicker - especially considering the crew I'm assuming already did their walk around and stuff and was in.

To put it simply Zekitty, it's wind. Generated by the rotor blades.
