@COBRIEN85 , actually my fine feathered friend. In Germany at army air base Giebelstadt all of the gunners were sgt e/5's ... on the cobra's. when i was active duty back in the late 70's and early 80's. now yes your right most are warrants. They want some of that pay and action lol

A pilot and gunner have to be either an officer or warrant officer. Enlisted RARELY get to go up in these.

That is actually a pretty good idea. I guess it would help to be around the aircraft and learn it inside and out so you know it better. Good luck dude, Its gotta be the best job in the world ;)

@heiheit yea me and my buddy are gonna join at the end of the year as a apache weapons loader or anything that works with apaches until we can go to warrant officer school and train to fly that sexy bitch good luck man

You must be a warrant officer. The army has a very nice warrant officer program for the Apache which I intend to join. As far as i know, you must be qualified to fly it and be gunner.

if you want the most flight time go active duty, make sure u have 2 or 4 years of college so when u go to warrant officer school youcan be a competitvive canidate

  16. Jan 20, 2009 at 06:13 PM by kowalski1993

can you become an officer if you do AROTC and become a pilot?

  17. Jan 2, 2009 at 12:05 AM by Bobbo0026

Either or is good...here in PA-NG we still fly almost every weekend...Apache's require 140 hours/year mandatory flight...thats over 40 more than any other helo in U.S. service...at least in the army...dunno bout Navy/USMC or AF...but good for you for thinkin about serving.

I was thinking of signing up with the Idaho national guard to fly their age limit is 32 and Utah's is 28. I think I just might go active duty. You guys got any advice?
